OMG OMG!!!

Psalm 37:3-4 "Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. "

ok peeps - I JUST bought my ticket to Asuncion, Paraguay -dang, this is a little scary because it means this is actually becoming a reality there!

So details - I am flying out of Miami on Thursday, July 16, 2009 (Yes Kim, a good # day I believe! LOL). I fly out at 7pm on Thu and will arrive at 11:30am on Friday.

I can't believe I just did this!!!

For those of you who don't know: living in a Spanish-speaking country has been a dream of mine since my senior year in college (1995/1996) and this trip itself has been about a year in the making. I can't believe that I will actually get to live this life-long dream of mine! Thank you God!

Hugs to you all! =)

Meet the Bedoyas!

Last week the Bedoyas flew down to Paraguay. Who are they you ask? Well they are Francisco and Liz and they are moving their family down there to lead our sister church in Asuncion. My pictures of them are limited at the moment, so I got what I could. They have a 5-year old son and a 3-year old daughter. Their wedding photo is therefore a little old, but I figured you all could at least get a look at the family who will be taking me in once I move down there! They are just the sweetest couple and I am very grateful that they are willing to take me in!
Last week at church we had a lovely going away party for them...food, slideshow, the works! What was also cool though was that they announced that I was heading down there as well! Not everyone had heard the news, so I had quite a few people come up to me, excited about my upcoming adventure. Everyone has been so sweet and encouraging - it has helped me to get more excited about going down there! It is hard to believe that I should be there in about 2 months! CRAZY!

I'm heading to Paraguay Mom! =)

Well folks, it is official...I am heading down to Paraguay this summer! CRAZY I KNOW!!

In order to get into Paraguay, you have to apply for a travel visa (important info if anyone wants to visit - *wink wink* ) So last Monday, during spring break, I drove down to Miami to get this process going. Now, when I read that I had to visit the Paraguay consulate to apply for the visa, I had visions of going inside a special building, with guards and you know...official embassy looking stuff. I was a TAD disappointed when it just ended up being an office in a random building - oh well! LOL =) (guess I watch too many movies)

But I left my passport, application and $ and they told me to come back in 2 days. So Wednesday, I drove down to Miami again and picked up my passport with my official visa inside (see photo)!

YAY! So the next step is to start applying for jobs and figuring out what to pack and what to store - big jobs ahead.

But my goal is to leave sometime in the middle of July. I will be visiting family and friends for most of June and so I will try and fly out sometime after that!

I will keep you all updated!

Decision time

Hello all!
So Welcome to my blog page! Right now, I am doing a test post here to see if this will really email everyone for me!

As you all know (well most of you I think), I am trying to decide between going to Chile or Paraguay to live for the year. Right now I am leaning towards Paraguay - there is a great couple who has been staying up here in FL for the last few months. They are going to be heading down to lead our sister church in Paraguay and have said that I can come live with them if I end up going down there. They really are just a sweet couple and have very nice things to say about Paraguay and the church down there.

So, on Monday I am going to head down to the Paraguay embassy in Miami and try and get a tourist visa. It might not work out though since your passport has to be at least 6 months old and I got my new one in March, 2009. So pray about that - I am sure God will make it obvious though about where I need to go!

Anyway, please let me know if you got an email about this blog being posted.
Hope you all are well- miss you!
hugs
Sarah
